Frank's Current Turning Passions

Frank enjoys creating unique and artistic woodturning from his shop in Selwyn, Ontario and in Port Charlotte, Fl during the winter months (pre-Covid).

His preference is a mix of traditional, live edge and contemporary shapes, often highlighted with colour, texture and even wire sculpture to produce unique eye-catching pieces, each with their own personality.

More recently he has been exploring more colour and dying as well as adding pyrography or ink images to his pieces where he felt it complemented the overall work.

Recent focus has also been on live edge burl pieces of all shapes and sizes in both open forms and closed hollow forms. Another new direction in the last year has been turning large wall sculptures. This has been on Frank's mind for years, and now with the addition of an outboard attachment, it has made possible the turning of larger diameter pieces more safely between centers.

Although the pandemic has curtailed all of his demonstrating and teaching activities, he continues to enjoy passing information on to others with the making of youtube videos. Below is a link to his most recent, the 100 lb burl, and while there, please subscribe to his channel, it is always great to support our members!
